About the Project
The Alexandria Tour Website is a dynamic, full-featured web application designed to connect tourists with the rich history of Alexandria. It provides an immersive user experience with a comprehensive catalog of historical tours, detailed descriptions, and a seamless booking process. Users can browse destinations, view virtual tours, and manage their reservations through a secure personal account. The platform also includes a powerful administrative backend for staff to manage tour listings, user accounts, and booking data, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
Robust Security Implementation
Security was a top priority throughout the development of this application. The following measures were implemented to protect user data and ensure system integrity:
- Email Verification & OTP: To prevent fake accounts and secure the registration process, all new users must verify their email address using a time-sensitive One-Time Password (OTP).
- Password Strength Checker: A client-side checker provides real-time feedback, enforcing strong password policies (length, complexity, character types) to protect user accounts from brute-force attacks.
- SQL Injection Prevention: All database queries are executed using prepared statements and parameterized queries. This practice ensures that user input is treated strictly as data, never as executable code, mitigating the risk of SQL injection.
- Input Sanitizing & Validation: Comprehensive validation is applied on both the client and server sides. All incoming data is sanitized to remove potentially malicious characters and validated against expected formats and types before being processed preventing XSS and Buffer overflow attacks.
